Eleanor Rogers
Eleanor will forever be grateful for her godmother and namesake who watched her dance without pause nor training and declared that she would pay for her niece’s first year of “dancing lessons”.
Over a number of years the kitchen twirling became more and more refined and ballet was the sole passion that persisted. Eleanor attended Skidmore College and subsequently earned a BFA from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She was trained and influenced by many but none more than Melissa Hayden, long time principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, whose attention, persistence, and encouragement forged the path to Eleanor’s life-long career.
Throughout her years on the stage, Eleanor loved the Balanchine repertoire she was fortunate to dance including Concerto Barocco, Valse Fantaisie, Stars and Stripes, Pas de Dix, Scotch Symphony, and The Nutcracker. Other highlights were Todd Bolender’s The Still Point and numerous works by former American Ballet Theatre soloist, Larry Gradus, who was recognized for creating groundbreaking contemporary works in Canada. Professional performing experience includes North Carolina Dance Theatre, La Compangie de Danse Entre-Six (Montreal), and The Atlanta Ballet.
Eleanor enjoys teaching all ages and levels of ballet. Encouraging her dancers to become the very best people they can be never.gets.old.
Sharing the work of Still Pointe with her youngest daughter, Grace, is a blessing beyond measure. When out of the studio Eleanor may be on a flight to visit five little loves who call her Grandmarmee.
