Megan Johnson
Megan Johnson has been dancing and teaching now for over 25 years! A born and raised resident of Atlanta, her earliest days of dancing began with Impact Dance Atlanta under the Direction of Kari Carter, where she trained with Susan Banks Bebee, Amanda Neeley, and Tara Thibedaux Drew. Additional credits for her high school training include a Dance Major with Cobb County’s Center for Excellence in Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School where she excelled to the highest level by her Sophomore year, and her last two years at North Atlanta School of the Arts with scholarship as a Dance Major training under Susan Banks Bebee, all while maintaining a Senior Company position with Impact Dance Atlanta.
After graduation, Megan attended Belhaven University with a dance and academic scholarship and studied there until she transferred to Ballet Maginficate! to be a part of their Trainee Program. Before going to Georgia Dance Theater to focus on Ballet, Megan danced with Atlanta Lyric Theater, a professional Musical Theater company, performing in The Will Roger’s Follies. Other Musical Theater credits include Copacabana and Pippin with CCCEPA, and Spellbound performed overseas in Scotland. She has also had the pleasure of training with Atlanta Ballet for a summer and under Sherri Davis’ direction for 7 years as a company member of Georgia Dance Theater. While there, she had the honor of dancing the lead roles of Maria in Sherri Davis’ original work of West Side Story the Ballet, demo-soloist in Giselle, Fleur De Lyes in Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lilac Ferry in Sleeping Beauty, Odette in Swan Lake, Blanche Ingram in Sherri Davis’ original Ballet Jane Eyre, and finally Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, her dream ballet roll! She also enjoyed dancing Sugar Plum Fairy, Dewdrop, Snow Queen, Dolls, Ribbon Candy, Chinese and Arabian lead in the Nutcracker.
After dancing with GDT for 7 seasons, Megan began working as the Assistant Director at Atlanta Academy of Ballet and Dance in Kennesaw Ga where she taught the Ballet Academy for the pre professional student and choreographed countless solos for ballet competitions. She also freelanced with Bluebird Uncaged under the direction of the fabulous Rebekah Diaddigo for a season but ended up with her greatest blessings disrupting the dancing, her precious children Reese (4) and Rhett (2). After moving to Cumming, Ga Megan now has the pleasure of working with the wonderful staff and students of Still Pointe Studios! Now the goal is to raise up the next generation to dance and train with discipline and grace.
